The World Tamburitza Festival, "Tamburica Fest", is held at the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad.
This five-day event with a unique concept and cultural mission of affirming tamburitza music and tamburica as an instrument aims to foster the tradition, cooperation and friendship of artists at the international level. Every year, the festival is performed by orchestras from the country and abroad, who compete in the competition part of the program for the selection of the best, while in the magazine part of the program, stars of the esteem, who also accompany the tamburitza performers, represent their hits. Introductory festival days are held in the center of Novi Sad, the first two days as a carnival tambourine through Zmaj Jovina, Dunavska, Modena Street and Katolicka port, after which the gig is continuing in the gardens of the shops in the mentioned streets. The third day is held at Trg Slobode with the performances of cultural and artistic societies, folklore ensembles and tamburitza orchestras, preceded by a special flier of the city streets. The fourth and fifth day of the festival are competitive and are held at the Petrovaradin Fortress, where besides tamburitza orchestras that present themselves with traditional songs as well as authorial, new compositions, well-known interpreters, special guests of "Tamburica Festa" perform in the magazine part of the program.
This year's festival will feature performances of 9 orchestras from eight countries in the competition, as well as the concerts of Lepa Breve, a worldwide sensation that comes from Hungary to the Petrovaradin Fortress "Gypsy simphony orchestra" - 100 violins and the reporter of people's population of the Republic of Komi from the Russian federation "Zarni Jolj".
