The international carnival in Pancevo is the first and most important contemporary international carnival in Serbia, a tourist attraction with 2000 participants from around 15 countries, visited by over 100,000 visitors.
It represents various cultures and carnival traditions from all over the world, which are part of international and regional cooperation. It is being held in the organization of Friends of Pančevo since 2003, and is sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia, the Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism of AP Vojvodina and the City of Pančevo.
It is located on the carnival map of the world, as a significant European manifestation which is the carnival parachute in Serbia and the first member of the Federation of European Carnival Cities (FECC) from Serbia since 2004.
This is the biggest street manifestation in Serbia that is free for visitors. The carnival ceremonies in Pančevo traditionally begin with the handover of the city's mayor's keys into the hands of Maestro Carnival, which symbolically signifies that these days the city is ruled by carnivalists, good mood and friendship. The culmination of the event is a large International Carnival Parade passing through the center of the city with over 2,000 participants from 15 countries, which ends with fireworks. Programs are held at more than 10 locations in the city and last until morning. This year's festival will be held on June 21st and 22nd.
